I thought I would be posting more pictures the last week or so. But again, "matters of consequence" got in the way. Today, though, I want to make sure I post at least one image. This one I took just yesterday when the sun was just about to set. There are so many simple yet beautiful things around us for which we need to be thankful. And on this Thanksgiving Day I am counting my blessings and expressing my gratitude for being in this world, filled with loving family and friends, and yes, even strangers, who sustain me throughout this journey called life.

I know, I've been AWOL for sometime. Was out of town, then got a little bit sick, lost my voice (after a lengthy karaoke session with friends) then got busy with work and school. But I'm back and will be posting some pictures I took while in Las Vegas . . . but you'll be surprised, they're all "nature" pictures. Before I do that, let me post a group picture of my Shoot & Critique Photography Class (the class just ended last Tuesday). Took this at the Disney Music Hall in downtown Los Angeles.

Here's another shot I took of Alenka. Light is key in photography. After all, the literal meaning of the word (in Greek) is "to draw with light".

This is Sam. He is the son of one of my classmates. He didn't expect to "pose" for us. But he was quite a trooper and did whatever we asked him to do. Cute kid. But quite shy.

I promised to post some shots I took during our Shoot & Critique Photography class. It was a bit of a daunting experience, having had no experience shooting in a studio with models. But I learned a lot and actually enjoyed the experience. Here's a shot of Alenka. She is a sweet, 17-year old girl who dreams of having a modeling agency someday.

Skipped a day of posting. Needed to attend to some "matters of consequence". Such is life. We plan on doing one thing and end up having to do another. But were it not for the occasional twists and turns, life would be a bit humdrum. I hope this image which goes with these thoughts is unexpected enough to make it less uninteresting.

I had not yet attached my camera to my tripod when I saw my photography teacher, Scott Stulberg, demonstrating a pose to one of the models. I just had to capture the moment. Scott is an amazing photographer. Take a tour of his website. It's quite a feast to the eyes. The site address is http://www.asa100.com/

A walk in the garden this morning did me good. It's amazing how a single budding rose could make me realize that my blessings outnumber those bumps in this road called life.

Didn't get to post anything yesterday. It was a pretty hectic day, but a fun and rewarding one, nevertheless. The "Shoot & Critique Photography" class I am currently enrolled in spent more than half the day at a studio in Culver City. It was my very first experience in portrait photography. I will post some of my shots sometime soon. But here's a shot of my teacher (in shorts) and some of my classmates setting up the lighting.

A short walk outside to commune with nature quiets the mind and nourishes one's spirit. That's what I did this morning. Try it sometime.

Woke up too early. A cup of cappuccino could only do me good.

Sometimes a hand-held, shaky shot makes an interesting image. Beauty, after all, is in the eyes of the beholder (I apologize for the cliche.).

Sunrise, sunset . . . crammed with meanings unspoken.
